We've been to this restaurant numerous times. Recently, when friends visited us from China, we took them here for lunch, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They even struck up a conversation in Mandarin with the waitress.
We're big fans of the lunch specials—they offer over 30 options. Each special includes soup, an egg roll, rice, and your choice of entree, all at a great price. One of our top picks is the "salt & pepper" fish, which is a perfectly fried fish fillet seasoned with chilis and scallions.
What makes it even more appealing is its proximity to our home—just a mile away. That's why we find ourselves dining here often.

I'm thrilled we discovered China Kitchen! It's conveniently located in the plaza next to Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.
You absolutely must try their salt & pepper fish—it's incredibly delicious! The batter is the best I've ever tasted, and the fish itself is exceptionally flavorful. I couldn't stop thinking about it all day and even rushed to Yelp to rave about how good it was!
We also sampled the egg drop soup, boiled fish in chili oil, Yang Chow fried rice, beef Szechuan, and steamed shrimp dumplings. I'm already planning my next visit.
Huge compliments to the chef, as each dish was scrumptious! The staff was super friendly and attentive as well.
If you're in the mood for authentic and delectable Chinese cuisine, you definitely need to check out China Kitchen and see for yourself!

My boyfriend and I absolutely adored this place and the kind owner! It reminded me of my childhood days eating Chinese food with my dad. The orange chicken is a must-try—perfectly crispy without being doughy, paired wonderfully with some white rice. The chow mein boasted a charred/seared flavor, just like it’s made in a wok. We could even hear the cook bustling in the back. Almost slipped my mind, but the egg drop soup was outstanding; I hardly wanted to share it. It was perfectly seasoned and brimming with egg. If you’re looking to recapture that classic '90s vibe, similar to Camarillo's Chester, make sure to visit this spot when you’re in Oxnard!

I absolutely love this place—it's my favorite spot for Chinese food in Ventura, and possibly all of Ventura County. It's easy on my stomach, not too heavy, and genuinely authentic. Their lunch specials are fantastic. I particularly adore their king pao chicken and wonton soup, though many of their dishes are delicious. Just a heads up, they are closed on Tuesdays—I've mistakenly tried to go on that day a few times, haha. The interior is a bit worn, and the back area seems a tad sketchy, but I just avoid sitting there. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Ha ha.

The top choice in Ventura! This place is a renowned hidden gem. I once asked a Walmart checkout clerk for the best Chinese restaurant around, and she immediately recommended "China Kitchen!" I headed there straight away and haven't stopped returning. The orange chicken is a personal favorite. However, the beef with broccoli, pork with string beans, juicy pork dumplings, sizzling rice soup, triple delight atop crispy noodles, and the special house chow fun (thick rice noodles) are all fantastic as well. I highly recommend each of these dishes. The prices are fair, and the service provided by Vivian is as excellent as it gets.
